The loch is unusual in
having it's own 16 hour "tidal system", actually a seiching
cause by prevailing winds, a phenomenon also found on Lake Geneva, Lake
Garda, Lake Erie and Lake Baikal.
The region has become a famed water center catering for
both fishing and water-sports: water skiing, canoeing,
jet skis, Kayaks and sailing. In Aberfeldy, braver
souls may wish to try white
water rafting.
We can arrange boats, permits and tackle for those
wishing to fish the Loch and River Earn, where 20lb salmon are
caught annually, along with attractive medium sized trout, grayling
and sea trout. The Earn has a late salmon run through September
and October. Trout are worth pursuing from May onwards and Grayling
between November and January.
